This striking contemporary home overlooks a dramatic ravine, surrounded by acres of natural woodland. While the clients loved the natural woodland look, they also love gardens. They asked for mostly native plants in a very natural style, with areas near the house where interesting perennials would provide contrast in color, texture and form.
Large sweeping drifts of perennials punctuated with native trees and shrubs transition between the large open lawn and the woods beyond. Arbors and a pergola were designed to complement the house’s unique style, and to give “entrance” into the different garden “rooms” near the house.
